NSG RULES FOR 2024
( REVISED FEBRUARY 2024)
1. $35.00 ENTRY FEE includes $25 for GOLF AND CART, and $10 for PRIZES.
2. All entry fees will be paid in cash, and all prizes to be paid in cash.
3. If we are SHORT one player we will have one 5 person group with a selected player hitting shots for each team as follows: the SINGLE(DUAL) player shall NOT pay an additional amount for Prize Money. He shall have a Cart to himself, and play ONE ball on Par 4 and Par 5 tee shots, and only ONE ball through the hole if his shot is selected by both teams (including putting). He shall play TWO balls on Par 3 tee shots and elsewhere on the course when his shot is selected by only one team.
WHEN HIS ALLOTTED NUMBER OF SHOTS IS USED, HE WILL HAVE TO HIT A SECOND BALL FROM THE DESIGNATED SENIOR TEE OR REGULAR MEN'S TEES FOR THAT TEAM.
4. If we are long one player, we will have two 5 person groups with a selected player hitting shots for each team. Follow the same method as Rule 3 above.
5. Sign up using your handicap index. The maximum handicap used will be 32.
6. Prize money will be paid out using the $10 payout sheet DATED 03/13/2013 which shows the flag count and payouts.
All draws are blind draws and cannot include teams that have won flags or a paying place. Half of the flags will be for closest to the pin on par threes, the rest will be for longest putt on holes other than par threes. All long putts and closest to the pin must be on the green.
8. We will use the THREE drive rule. The "A"player must use at least (3) of his drives during the round, there will be a combined total of (6) drives required for the "B" and "C" Players. The "B" player must have at least (3) of the (6) drives and the "C" player must have (1) of the (6) drives. All players will start their round from the forward tees as determined by the course manager. An "A" Player under 70 years old may only have TWO of his Drives used from the forward tees. An "A" Players 70 and older can use FOUR drives from the forward tees before moving back.
The B player may only have FOUR of his drives used from the Forward tees. The C Player may only have SIX of his drives used from the Forward tees. All players will hit from the forward tees until their allotted drives have been used and then move back to the Senior Tee or Regular Men's Tee, whichever is designated for each course by the Committee members.
PLAYERS AGED 80 AND OLDER PLAY THE FORWARD TEES ALL DAY, ON YOUR BIRTHDAY AND NOT BEFORE!!
9. Guests are always welcome, however if you do not have a paid handicap card or a paid golf course membership, you must belong to our group as a “Phantom” (PG) player and play where the “Phantom Golf Course” (PG) is scheduled to play. No more skipping about from course to course to play only the courses you want. We must have as even and fair a distribution of players as possible. (PG) - Phantom Golfer
10. Call in an 18 hole index handicap no later than Noon on Friday, preceding the Monday we are scheduled to play. Each course should have a designated person to make that call weekly. Please use a Fax or Email whenever possible to aid in correct spellings. Again, the maximum handicap used will be 32.
11. Please let the Host Course know if you need to cancel. Failure to do so by 8:00AM Monday will carry a $25.00 fine to be paid to THE COMMITTEE before you will be allowed to play in any outing after that. Emergencies will be given consideration.
12. Both teams keep score for both teams. This helps one another if, for example, perhaps a hole is forgotten and not scored for several holes, and this is just a courtesy.
13. Check in time will be between 7:30 and 8:30 and the tee time at 9:00 from Mid-May till October 1st each year as per schedule. The rest of the year, check in time will be between 8:00 and 9:00 with the tee time at 9:30.
14. Outside the rules of golf there is one club length. In other words, if free relief is not called for under USGA rules, you must play from a spot within one club length of where the ball lies and not closer to the hole. No moving the ball from behind trees. No improving your position.
15. Putts within the leather will be a gimme. There is a difference....if it's in the leather, the putt is supposed to be putted. If it is “within” the leather it is a gimme according to our rule....that would be regardless if it's a side hill or down hill because the rule reads “within the leather.” If you measure there will be no reason to “ask” if that's a gimme and embarrassing someone.
16. Teams will be determined by the host course with assistance by a committee member if necessary.
The basic process for determining teams will be as follows:
A. List all players by handicap in order from lowest to highest
B. Divide the group into thirds to create lists of “A” “B” and “C” players
C. Reverse the list of the “B” third and the “C” third from highest to lowest handicap
D. Assign the highest handicap “B” and “C” players to the lowest handicap “A” player as his partners and continue in that process until you get to the highest handicap “A” player, who should then have the best “B” and the best “C” players as partners
E. Total team handicaps should be as fair as possible from one team to another
F. Lastly, try to avoid having 2 players from the same course on the same team, by shifting players with similar handicaps from one team to another
17. In case all 18 holes are not played by all teams (rain out), scores will be (+) or (-) par on holes played equal to holes played by the team playing the least number of holes. Holes started must be finished or take par + 1.
18. Any discrepancies of questions will be settled by members of the seven-man Rules Committee. Elections will be every year; this will mean having the committee with standing members every year so as not to have a whole new committee at one time.

19. The committee will consist of seven members, each serving a three-year term. Three members will be up for election in 2024, with two up for election in 2025, and two members will be up for election in 2026. This rotating committee election process is to ensure some continuity to the committee instead of electing 7 new members at each election.
Shortly before the end of the season a list of possible new members and old members that want to stay on would be made up and a vote by all members of the group would be made at an 18 hole course that most members attend, to elect or re-elect members to the committee. January 1 following the election date will be the effective date of committee membership. If a member of the committee leaves before his three year term is up, a selection by the committee will be made to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the three year term and the position will be filled as stated above.
